Life in Maji ya Chai

Habari Zenu marafiki na familia wetu (How are you, our friends and family)?

We have been very busy since our last posting. The weather has been perfect for our intense community service sessions, gracing us with overcast days in the low 70’s. The students are recovering well from jet lag and are really jumping into their learnings. The Wildlife and Conservation group has visited the World Vegetable Center, where they tasted some nutritious, delicious (and in one case, sharp!) indigenous vegetables while the Photography group has made fast friends with our Tanzanian counterparts by exploring Maji ya Chai. We have made progress on our community service project and while it is tedious and tough work, the students are positive and excited by the challenge of this project.

We feel very fortunate to report that the health of the group is outstanding and their appetites are appropiately voracious. The “mamas” are the heros of our group. We are all excited to have dinner with our National Geographic Expert, Karin Muller, tonight and will be exploring the waters of Lake Dilouti tommorrow by canoe. Friday is our last day in Maji ya Chai before we set out for safari with Dorobo.

Things are going very well and the students have not lost their enthusiasm!
